Default H-9 T-craft

I have a g23 Glow on mine....I make my own fuel....$2 gallon......No worry about mag or electronics from engine giving your rx fits.
I am very happy with it. $200 and go,

Default Gas and glow

There is some drawbacks to gas not mentioned..
Other than the ones mentioned already......You have "gasoline to smell in your garage and car to deal with... I would suggest if you go gas..you use a siphon hose to draw from your auto tank and mix each day you fly....gas will get stale quick....The remainder you have left over at the end of the day...just toss it back in the car tank...It will not harm your vehicle The biggest is no knowing the drawbacks of setting up your airplane because of the engine electronics.....switches, throttle rods, have to be monitored carefully on placement.......this can play havoc on your rx if not careful...I mix my oil and meth......it is very inexpensive....
The glow is powerful, and the weight does not look for Jenny Craig shops.
It is about $85 cheaper.....That savings alone will buy me a lot of fuel.

The T-craft is a very respectful airplane.
I detailed my cockpit with the insturnment panel from hanger 9 and it looks wonderful ($18)....
I used copper tubing to make my stick and shrink wrap for the hand control........Colored stick pins made the throttle, mixture etc.
I placed a red ball stick pin in the tubing on the stick, and then wrapped it with the shrink...I chose NOT to use a pilot.....I painted the interior for orginality.
Good luck guys...

Default Whinny 2 stroke

Hey sport.........The g23 glow is far from whinny.....!
When have you last heard one??
You can count the blades at idle, and performance is great.
Just what four stroke would you recommend.....? I will assume money is not a factor.
Do you have a t-craft??

Default $ stroke

Sport,
You are sooooooooo right the 4 strokes do have "the" sound.
I have a t-34 w/ a saito 4/s and a 3 bladed prop.....It sounds like anything but a r/c aircraft.

Default FUEL

To make fuel is rather simple.
Go to any speed shop that sells the Meth (alcohol) and add 5 ozs of oil per gallon.
Take your own approved container and add your oil at the shop...Tell them to fill er up!
About $2 per gallon plus oil....A 1 qt. can of oil will make about 6 gallons for around 8 bucks.
Nitro is not needed for the g23 glow.
Good Luck,

Default H9 t-craft RCBUILDER

Nothing spectular......I dressed the cockpit as stated above and put a g23 glow onboard.....My airplane isn't special.......There are just a lot of varibles that can come into play.
This kit is expensive for an ARF.....I chose to go "medium" cost....It still did not turn out that way.....It is too pretty to go medium.
Regards

I'm just starting mine and will be doing a review of it on my web site soon. I definitely want to go with a 40-50cc gasser and smoke... this plane must have smoke. :-)

Well... not for scale maneuvers.

But, Horizon says this thing is capable of just about anything... so I want to have a motor in it that will allow exploration of that claim.

If you are mixing your own fuel be aware you must use oil that will mix with alcohol. Most mineral based oils will NOT mix with alcohol. Castor and most synthetics (like KLOTZ) will.
Also BE SURE to use enough oil if possible check with the manufacturer before using your home brew.

Your answers always seem knowledgeable... I'm curious about how long have you been flying... and what your background is?

Default Your Family....

So let me figure this out here......You dance, go to school, work, fly RC , build, and read when you have the spare time....
Your family started flying in 1980......When did you start flying?
Are you a member of the AMA???
What club do you fly ...?

I did finally put mine together with a ZDZ-40. Having a light gasser on the plane sure is nice... but it really is capable of totally overpowering the H9 Taylorcraft. Something a little smaller wouldn't be bad at all. Again, smoke is a must.
