Default Phoenix Extra 300S engine - Super Tigre .61 ABC or Tower Hobbies .75 ABC??

Hi,
I just got the Phoenix Extra 300S, and would like some suggestions on which power plant to use. I've decided to go 2 stroke, and was contemplating the Super Tigre .61 ABC or the Tower Hobbies .75 ABC.
Help!!!

I have the GMS .47 size...the Tower engines are made by GMS..this engine has ran VERY good for me!
I have it in a Skyraider Mach II.

Ingles - when you use a 60 sized engine in a 40 sized plane the wing loading goes up pretty much. There will be a need to counter the extra weight on the nose too. I would say go for a 75 as it will weigh roughly the same as the 60 sized engine. Another engine to consider will be a TT61, that is a good engine. Also, the ST G90 is not much heavier that the ST61.

The wing loading factor is definitely an important point. I had considered it, but since the plane will weigh in at about 5 1/2 lbs, the extra 5.1 oz of the TT 75 would not make a big difference. "And" the plane would be a blast to fly...
My other option is to use a new ST 45 I have in the box and perhaps install the bigger engine later, I just hate to be underpowered. The fact is that nobody in my club has one of these birds, so I have no idea how it will fly. What are your thoughts??

Ingles - only 5 oz more than a 46? No way!!! I think that might be 5 oz more without the muffler. The difference between TT61 and TT46 is 10 oz and I think other will be less but not that much less. Again, if you cannot get the battery pack far back then you will need to add about 1.5-2 oz on the tail. I did it on my Black Horse SU31 and the wing loading was a vast difference but the plane was still very manageable. Only difference was that on landing I need to have a bit more speed, not that much more but still ...

tIANci - The Towers catalog shows the TH .75 ABC with muffler at 23.6 oz and the ST .45 ABC that I got, weighing in at 18.5 oz. Hence the 5.1 oz difference.
Anyone out there has flown this bird with a .45 ??? If so, is it enough power ???

I am running a TH 75 in my GP Stuka. I have had very good luck with it. Turns a 13-6 APC prop at 12,000 rpm. Really nice engine and cheap to buy!

I flew this with a Tower 75 and it was superb-- keep some speed on landing and you will love the performance!

jester - the G51 is a nice engine, tached it at about 13K RPM on a 10x6. Its nice and sweet but just be patient in tuning and running in.

It depends on whether you have the updated ARF or the old version. The updated version really builds light, you will notice by the pictures in the manual that the old version had lots of extra wood in it. They have gone back and eliminated some wood and added laser cut lightening holes throughout. Mine is the new version and my .46AX swinging an 11x6 pulls it around really well.
