Default Balancing props

Hello.
I've just check that my news Menz S wood props are not balanced with a balance tool. How should I balance them? Sanding, scraping, with spray laque...?

I've never balanced a prop, so any advice would be great

Thank you very much

Default RE: Balancing props

I only have one Menz. Most props that I balance I scrape the front of the heavy blade. But I wouldn't do it this way on the Menz. The Menz is just too nice a prop to have one blade scraped up. For the Menz I would get some spray clear lacker and spray the whole prop with a light coat to get the color the same and then hit the light blade with a few extra coats to get it balanced.

hope this helps

On single cylinder gas engines, put the piston at top dead centre and place the heavy blade opposite it at the bottom. I found this worked better than distorting the prop by sanding or adding paint.

Juan:

Just buy a clear spray paint and paint the lite side.

I tried this with my so called "factor balanced" high dollar Mejzlik prop. It helped, but still wasn't right. Then I put it on my Dubro balancer, sprayed clear laquer on the light blade tip to get them balanced, then added weight to one side of the hub to get that balanced. Now that made a difference when I put it back on the ole' G62.
