Default Water rudders

Anyone know where I can get a water rudder like Williams Bros. sold before the went under (no pun intended). the Ernst rudders that Tower sells...well I don't much about them...it says they are retractable and used with a servo. Any help appreciated.

What info are you looking for? I've got the Ernst rudders, but haven't installed them yet. They are fairly scale looking (depending on what you're modeling I guess) but also a little large for a .40 size model. Would look better on a larger .60 size.

They are retractable, but you don't have to if you don't want.

I have used the Ernst water rudders on all my float planes, and find they work very well. You only need a servo for complete retraction as per scale. The ruddders have a small rubber band which holds them in the water at low speeds but allows the rudder to retract at higher speeds or if you hit something in the water. Try them I think you will like the way they operate. Good luck.

Ernst rudders are better than Williams ever were. You don't NEED the rubber band. When you are slow enuf, they extend.

I'm using a Williams rudder now on a Avistar with a ...yes i'm gonna say it....Gee Bee floats that I set up about 4 -5 years ago with a TT 46 that has been dunked ( I think the salty/brackish water helps pickle the engine ) in Mobile Bay at least 20 times while learning how to set up a float plane and all of them have served me well. I don't understand all the critisysum of the Gee Bee floats. While the others i'm sure are better, these when properly set up sure seem to work well or they have for me anyway. I can modify the next set of Gee Bee floats to accept the Ernst rudder since I can't get the Williams any longer.
