Default Extra 300 to fit YS 120...(HELP!!)

Hey Guys......got a question hopefully someone can easily answer..!! I just bought a used YS 120 4 stroke. I'm looking for an Extra 300 or 330 (any of the latest versions) ARF to go with this motor. I seem to be having problems finding a name brand ARF that is suited for this engine. I've been looking for 60-90 2 strokes which are usually 90-120 4 strokes. I've looked thru flying mags, rc universe, ebay, haven't found much to match up. SOMEBODY HELP ME !! (ha ha) Was looking at Funtana 90, (not an Extra, but I have the 40 size and love it) but think this is to much motor, any opinions on this ? I say this because a guy in our club has one with a new YS 110 and it screams !! Not looking for speed, just power enough for beginning/learning 3D. I'm looking in the $300-$350 or so range. I have looked at the new Dave Patrick 300's but they are 120-140 size 4 strokes.....I don't want to be underpowered. From what I've been told I need something with a WS in the 60's (inches wise). Any help or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind that the YS 120 puts out slightly more power than other 140 and 150 size four strokes, so you won't be underpowered.

WS in the 60's is way too small for this engine. The Funtana 90 already has a WS of 69.5 in, and the YS 110 can pull it straight up out of sight. I don't see why you couldn't use this engine in that plane.

I don't know too much about YS engines, as I have never owned one, but I did build a Goldberg 300xs with OS160 and I can tell you it is one solid well built plane. One of the finest arfs I have ever built in that everything matched and lined up perfectly. And if the ys is as powerful as everybody says it is it should pull this plane with some authority.

You might want to check out Vector Flight... They have a 66 inch Extra that they claim will take a 120.... I have one of these and they are one of the best flying Extra's out there... I could go on and on but most of it has been said many times on RCU.. Do a search to read it...

Chief Aviation and Giant Scale Planes market an Extra 300 Arf which is well made and can be purchased for about $180.00. I have a YS 91 in mine, and i am happy with the combo. The YS 120 would be super in this airframe.

Also consider the 68" WS Extra 300 (not 300s) from World Models. It's basically an ARF version of the excellent Goldberg kit. perfect match for your YS 120.

Yes, the World Models would be the perfect size for the YS 120. It's quality is good too, not like the no-name Extras that you see floating around so much nowadays.

Check out www.extremeflightrc.com for the video on the YAK 54 (68"). That is a YS 1.10 with a 16x6 or 15x8 APC prop
