Hi guys,

I have a clippard 3-way, I assume normally closed valve for my Spring Airs. Problem is,when I presurize the air tank, there is an open port that leaks air gradually, and eventually loses all pressure (takes about 2 minutes). The port bleeds air in off and on position, however if I block the port the bleeding will stop, but it won't extend the landing gear.

Has my valve gone bad? Can I use a normal Robart valve and "jumper" the unused port?

Do you have the tubing connected to the correct ports? Are the ports labeled?

Well, I assume that the tubing is installed correctly, cause it does retract/extend correctly.

See the picture, it is the one on the left hand side (red button). The air in/out ports are underneath it. The port facing forward of the jet is the one that bleeds off air.

I will look at my valve when I get to the house and I think mine has onley 1 air in and out nipple..Todd

the valve in question is a smav-3 clippard part. david i will pick up a spare for you this week.

Hey don't worry Pat, JT has a spare one so I can get the model ready for Waco. Just want to make sure that I get it in right.
I was able to fly again Sunday (with 25-35 winds), but 2 minutes after takeoff the landing gear extends, kind of like a built in timer.

BTW, how long can you fly that thing?. I fueled her up, flew for 7 minutes, landed and did not refuel, flew again for 5 minutes, landed and there was still enough fuel in the hopper for a couple of touch and go's.

i would go for up to 8 minutes if i knew i could land whenever. at events i would set it for 6. it is not a tough plane to land dead stick. i will be in waco friday afternoon and saturday.

fwiw the end opening is the exhaust, and should only let air out when the button is released for a moment.
