Default Canopy Repair w/ Butyrate Dope

Has anyone used this method to re-coat a canopy exterior? I have heard one can use a 1000 grit or so sanpaper and recover with Dope. Understand this is what the airlines use for scratches.

Default dope

I have never had much luck with butyrate dope sticking to canopys but, the nitrate dope sticks great. If it is just scratches you have you can use plastic polish to remove them. Deeper scratching can be removed with your 1000 to 1500 grit wet paper then polish. I use blue magic plastic polish from the auto parts store.
Todd.
