Default .26 head rotation after being run?

Hi.
Recently got hold of a slightly used (less than a gallon run thru it or so it has been claimed) MVVS .26 Combat Wombat. It has been set up for rear exhaust. My question is can I switch it to side exhaust or is it too late? From what I have heard, a gallon or less fuel isnt really broken in yet with these engines.

It's never too late! Money can fix anything! If you want to run it as a side exhaust and are willing to buy a new piston and liner if it doen't perform as well as it should, got for it!

I suppose that answers my question... Guess I will sit on it till I come up with a kit that can use a rear exhaust engine.
