Default What you think about a zdz 80 twin in H-9 Edge

I know the 80 singel will deliver more power but i like twins.
Will a 80 twin take the plane out of a hover?
Is a zdz 100 twin to heavy? (2150gr not exhaust inclouded)

I had a Zenoah GT-80 on my Sukhoi and it would pull out of a hover pretty good. since the ZDZ 80 twin is lighter and makes 3 more horsepower, I think that it would be awesome. But you also have to look at another thing. A DA100, 3W106, BME 100's, and ZDZ 100 are all also lighter than the GT-80 and all make more power that the ZDZ 80 twin, plus they dont cost that much for than the ZDZ 80 twin. If I was in your position, I would buy either the DA-100, ZDZ 100, or BME 110. ZDZ and DA are close to the same weight, with the ZDZ a little lighter, but the DA has a little more power. Or you can go with a BME 110 which is 2 pounds lighter than the DA with a little more power. Plus with one of these 100, you can put them into a 35%er later, where it would be difficult to put the ZDZ 80 twin in one.

I had a ZDZ 80 twin in my H9 Sukhoi and it pulled out of a hover fine. Was a good running motor.. Enjoy it!!!

Get the single 80, more power than the twin, vibration is very little.

Go with the BME 110, its lighter, more powerfull and its narrower than the ZDZ80 or the DA 100 so you won't have to cut spark plug holes in your cowl. I have one on my biplane and its the most trouble free engine I have ever had right out of the box. There is some video of the one in my biplane on flight #3 on my website, the biplane weighs about 25 pounds, has crazy vertical acceleration with this engine and it no where near broken in.

He lives in Sweden, getting a BME there may be a bit difficult.

I have heard that there is a lot of vibration on the big single?

I can by a almost new zdz 100 with canister for approximate 950$

I chose between the zdz 80 singel, zdz 80 twin and zdz 100 twin!

Have anybody seen a video of H9 Edge 3D? In that case post the link!

I think that rc universe should have a videoforum there members could post videolinks sorted by manufactors then modell!

Its correct that we dont have BME!

Thanks for you opinion!
Daniel

Don't worry about vibration. Last year at Joe Nall I flew one with a ZDZ80 single and it was an awesome combo. Either motor the single or the twin you will enjoy. If it was me I would get the ZDZ80 single. The H9 Edge does not need a 100cc motor unless you just having one laying around. my 2 cents worth..

Okey! In that case how does the 80 twin compare to the singel? How big diffrence is it?

Well I have owned both engines, most have not so they have hard copy data to compare or word of mouth. Other than there being a weight difference between the two, with the single being lighter there is only maybe a 1/4 h.p difference as far as power.

Weight: 80 single - 4.2lbs.
80 twin - 4.6lbs.

Rcshowcase.com lists each motor's hp:

80 single - 8.5hp
80 twin - 8.1hp

You will have to cut the cowl sides out for the plug caps so that's a reason to stick with the single.

I would have to agree, I have a ZDZ 80 single that I have been flying on an Ohio RC Extra 300 for over a year and its a very reliable powerfull engine. Though a twin would be nice if you could fit it in there without cutting plug hole.

Maybe I am wrong but the twins are easier to fit within a cowling than a single. The 80 single uses as much space within a cowling than the 160 twin. The cylinder head of a 80 single sticks out as much as the heads of the 160 twin.

Sure one could rotate the single but the cowlings of aerobats is often wider than tall (full scale generally use opposed flat engines). In the case of a Sukhoi, it is round so if the plug sticks out of the side, it will stick out of the bottom...
