Default BARGAIN SHOPPING!

holy cow!! what luck..

just got back from a friends house. he just bought an amazing amount of RC stuff for $350
believe it or not this is what he got:
-Losi LST with some hop ups and a JR XR3 radio, i think. it race set-up i can tell that. but i haven't really checked it out good yet
-2 RC10gts' one is hopped up for racing, carbon towers, tuned pipe, al shox, OS .18 CVr. the other is pretty much stock
-and what i think is duratrax axis buggy, guessing though no real marks just it has a TORQ engine on it.
-and a whole bin of parts and tools

unbeleivable!!! glad he likes me i can't wait to get my hands on that LOSI. then i can't wait to run circles around him with my revo.

will try to get some pics soon

a friend stopped by with some guy we didn't know. seemed like a reall cool guy though. he used to race and really be into it then decided to quit and wanted to get rid of all his stuff. our LHS went out of business about 3 month ago. closed the track and everything. he said he didn't like dealing online for parts and stuff so he sold out.

well we got to check them all out in good shape yesterday. they ended up being a bunch of nice trucks with minor problems or cheap fixes however you want to look at it.

stock RC10 is a litle ripper. i can't believe how fast this thing is. going up and down the dirt road in front of his house i can't even get it to go straight. start slo and the minute it you start to get it going good it kicks sideways and flys into the ditch. blows donuts like a SOB! we had fun with this one.[8D]

the other RC10 is a factory team kit with the OS .18. tried to run this one but the flywheel retainer was stripped so the flywheel and clutch wouldn't hold onto the engine. threads on the shaft are still fine so all we need is the little retaining shaft/nut. cheap fix under $15. i think i might have something in one of my bins to hook it up. after running the stock RC10 i can't even imagine what this one is gonna be like with the OS in it.[X(]

the AXIS buggy i think has everything there by looking at all the parts. just didn't take the time to put it all together.

now for the LOSI LST. this one was the most perplexing. to start with we couldn't for the life of us get the radio (JR XS3) to work with the truck. not sure if the settings on the RX are srcewed up or the settings on the TX are screwed but they will not work together. we checked all the batteries and everything was fine there but no signal. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A MANUAL ONLINE? so we pulled the radio system from his savage and put it in there. now we have signal. WOOOHOOOO!!! lets rip. NOPE of course not. something wrong with motor it won't spin over. i think the OWB might be gone. bump start will spin but piston won't move. anyway truck needs to be cleaned so we can check that out later.

Please anyone with info on the JR radio system please help me out. no manuals and i know i'm gonna need one to figure this thing out. thanx

all in all still an excellent deal. just minor maintenance to be done that's all. sorry forgot the camera yesterday. so excited to run them, you know new toys

we thought of that when we heard of the deal. once we meet the guy though those thoughts were set to rest. the guy seemed to be a very nice guy. seemed to know quite a bit about the hobby and had lots of stories of traveling to races around the region. was actually a joy to meet and talk too. granted i know people can be extremely decieving when it comes to getting money but i didn't get that feeling from this guy.

if this stuff is stolen then i would feel bad. i have been ripped off before and it really does suck. but when someone walks up to my door with a deal like this i jump on it, HOT or NOT. as long as i know nothing of the theft or the guy it was stole from.

Thanx Gerwen!! that's perfect. i assume it just has to be that the channels are different between the two (TX and RX) somehow.

if it's stolen then i'm sorry to hear about the guys luck. i didn't steal nor did my friend that bought it. but we are gonna thrash the hell out of them[:-]

Default RE: BARGAIN SHOPPING!

well we got everything but the AXIS buggy running yesterday.
Team Factory RC10, the one with the bad shaft nut, fixed with pieces i had laying around. had to go from a 15t CB to a 20t CB though it was all i had. man this thing fly's. i deffinatley think it needs a lower tooth count on the CB though. not that much bottom end left with a 20t on it.
stock RC10 still going good.
as for the losi felt stupid on this one. got the radio to work. it was just a signal mix up. was an easy fix after i got the manual link, thanx again gerwen. but remember i said i thought the OWB was gone. well it wasn't i had the drill spinning the wrong way. i am used to the HPI roto start systems in which the drill needed to be spun in reverse to start. the losi has a direct drive so i needed to spin it clockwise to start. wooops...[:-] changed the setting on the drill and it started right up after about four turnovers. what a beast. had it running for about one full tank of fuel but then it started raining
now we just need to get 4 engine mount screws for the buggy and we can mount the engine then i think it will work too.

The Axis and the savage he had to start with. we just stripped the CB on it that's why the exhaust is hanging. it has metal spur and i think we set the mesh wrong. new one on the way. he wanted to put the 40 wheels and bowties on that one instead of running them on the LST.

the group and the spur of the moment mini hobby shop we came up with. most of the drawers in those two bins have parts and screws in them and the stuff in the rack on the walls, except for the shelf of tools and one of the fuel bottles, also came with the deal

been a fun week!![8D]
