MVVS 116
Anyone seen this? looks very interesting, with the tuned exhaust they sell, they claim 6100 with a mejzlik 30x10, and with cans I believe its the same weight (within a few ounces) of a DA or 3W with cannisters. I know they meet their claimed numbers on the 58, so if thats the case with this, I am going to try one. I may stick one of these on the front of my new QQ yak in place of the bme 110/w cans. QQs yak I believe was 26.5lbs with the 3w, cans, so I bet I can get it to that with the mvvs, what do you guys think? its definitely different

RE: MVVS 116
I think the mvvs is a good looking motor, and I am sure it is a monster when it comes to power. But, I think you would have a better flying plane if you took advantage of the 2 lb weight reduction that the BME offers. I know you had a 110 in your Edge so you know what kind of mad power that thing makes. I just think that if you had a 25lb yak with the bme it would still be crazy power and it would have to fly better than a 27lb yak with the mvvs in it. Probably either way you can't go wrong, but I do think that lighter flys better. I am not sure you can get the mvvs yet, but I could be wrong on that.

RE: MVVS 116
Well, I just ordered the 116 from mvvs-canada, wanted to try something different, I am 99% sure I can get the plane to 26.0-26.5lbs with this motor, the weight wont affect it, as much wing as a carden and still a few pounds lighter than most of them. I probably could have got the yak down to 24.5lbs with the bme, but a friend had a good point. His comp arf yak is 24.5lbs with a 106 in it, and he says with it being so light, it gets blown around, and couple extra pounds would probably help his airplane. Plus, I like being different, and probably wont see too many of these 116s floating around. Will keep everyone posted. Will put a big 3 blade (27x12 or 28x12) on the front to absorb some of that power

Its trottling and idling very Well!
Easy to start!
When the ignition battery begins to end, the engine wont do rpm over 4000 to save the battery so you can land saftey!
You wont be disapointed!

RE: MVVS 116
Ya I was thinking about that 2 but I just got a Comp-Arf Yak so that would be 1 to many Yaks in the stable. Saw that 260 post of yours and thought if you could build one at about 32-34 with this it should be sweet

RE: MVVS 116
Its probably possible to build one that light. Trying to figure out what I am going to do. I have a framed up carden 260 and a NIB 37% AW extra, but sure like the looks of that dalton 260 though.

RE: MVVS 116
My AW weighs 37lbs, thats with a 3w 150, full length tuned pipes, 3 servos per ail, 2 per ele half, and 4 on the rudder, I think it could be 1.5-3.0lbs lighter depending on what was put in it. If the numbers are right on the 116, my 106 on full pipes is on par with the 116. I think I would put a 116 in a large 35% instead of a 40% size plane. The 37% AW is a 40% size airplane, just shorter wings.

RE: MVVS 116
Hey guys,
I have been reading alot about this MVVS engine and am pretty sure I will be getting it for an airplane. Although I do not know what to get for it. I see that it's a little on the heavy side, but I've also read that it has the power of a 140cc engine, that it's power is closer to the DA150 than the DA100. So I am wondering, what would be a good plane for it? I am looking for a 3D, preferably an edge 540.
I am willing to build, but am not putting the ARF's aside.
What do you guys think?
Thanks
LeBlanc

RE: MVVS 116
Like razor said Comp-Arf MX2 should be a great combo. And you can not compare any 100's to this engine, it is better than a 140. Mine is on a 37lb Extra 300 right now and pulls it around with absolutely no problems what so ever, but will be transplanted into a new home shortly. It will be going into a 38% Columbo Anderson which should be around 34-35 lbs when all said and done and I just hope I will be able to put my tuned pipes in it and see what is really possible.

RE: MVVS 116
What does everybody think? The MX2 seems like a pretty nice airplane!
But I have to say, although I do not have the motor yet, it feels wrong to put that motor in there when you can put a DA150. Just shows how much power it has then right . I am still going to look around but I am drifting to composite-arf stuff now, everybody seems to like them so much! Although before I thought I was going to build myself a 35% extra 330 from carden but then something came up for my school classes and wont have the time to build it. So now I can only get an ARF.
All your help is greatly appreciated
Thanks

RE: MVVS 116
I've got a MVVS 58 Pro rated at up to 8.5hp (simply awesome engine). Surely it's only a matter of time before MVVS bring out a 116 Pro with 2 X 8.5 = 17hp!!!!!! [X(]
