Default Laser Engines. Any one got experience

Hi all,

I am trying to decide on engine choice for a WM GS Zero.
So far, I have looked at
Saito 300 twin
Moki 1.8
But would like to find out more about the Laser V-twins. I know they are from the UK but was wondering if ant of you gentlemen run these 4 strokes and could give some user info.

If you have any other engine ideas please feel free to suggest them.

Thank's for taking the time to help.

Dave

The Laser's are very good engines.
Designed to be run on no or low nitro and very trouble free.
Several planes at Top Gun were running them. (V-twins & singles)
I have a 180 & 200 V-twin and can tell you that they run very smooth with low vibration levels.

Hello; I have a Laser 100, I am very happy with it. I have been using it for 5 years in a Bala USA taube. Absolutley no problems at all, I use the blend of fuel they recommend 0 percent nitro. I wish I could have a twin Laser, I have heard that they are excellent engines, and based on my 100 experience would recommend them.

Richard Crapp has a 300 V-twin in his 103" WS, 33lb Swordfish. Holding the plane during run up showed the engine to have more than ample power for this size aircraft. The smooth running V configuration is easy on the airframe.

Dave,
My observations on the 150:

(when stored it looses its oil everywhere)

Thank's Hans,

That has just about sold me on it. The only thing is now, will the 200 V be enough power for a 16<17lbs War bird. And will it turn a 3 blade prop, for scale flying. I am looking for scale performance.

Thank's again.

Dave,
Perhaps is this usefull:
The German distributer recommends a bit bigger props than the manufacturer.

Very soon I will try the 16*10 on the 1.50 and see if that will work better.

I expect that you need more weight than the 200V, and a bigger prop will fly it better. So if price is not an issue go for the 300 or even the 360. All my questions about Lasers to Neil Tidey were always answered, so I would use this source too.
