RE: Edwards test color numbers (F-16)
Hey Nick,
When I did a few "clown" paint scheme's (that is what they call the orange and whites at Edwards) I researched the color intently. AFter anumberous trips to the paint barn I found out that the orage that we used out Adwards was a mixture of red and orange. It was brought to life back in the late 70's early 80's. Before that it was international orange. Just throw some red into the orange until you get a close match to what you see in photos. That is about how they do it at Edwards, believe it or not.

Nick,
Besides the input John gave you, you also get to decide how old you want your model to look. Those airplanes fade like crazy out here in the desert sunshine. So once you take that into consideration, finding an exact color match is probably even less scientific.

International Orange isn't quite the right color.
Here's a photo of my F-15 in work. The wings were sprayed with International Orange. The verticals and elevons are sprayed with the correct red/orange (not sure of the FS number). They're not even close.
