Neat equipment installation
I have seen loads of pictures of these incredibly neat equipment installations and wondered what they look like from underneath the equipment mounting board.
Is it spaghetti junction underneath or are the hidden bits also neat?
I spend hours trying to get my first installation (Boomerang Intro) neat and functional (for easy servicing) and while both top and bottom were OK ...it was nothing like some of the pictures I have seen!

Keeping things as neat as possible will aid in servicing and troubleshooting. The first install is alway the hardest, after you have done it and then had to take it apart to get to something you will find a neater easier way. Most planes are not jumbled messes of wires under the cool mounting plates. (note I said most)

usually if a guy spends the time to make things that neat, chances are they look good underneath.
But the reality is, that you must hide all the stuff you can't see somewhere. When I get home from work, I'll post some pics of a Kingcat I built. The interior is impeccable, but at the expense of being difficult to service. The start gas tank was mounted under the ECU board, so it is difficult to change the filter, or service the tank because you have to lift up the board to access it. That means disconnecting airlines, wires,fuel tubing, RC connections ect. It becomes a nightmare,BUT it looks good.

I do not understand how some guys after spending some K$ in a jet don't take the installation very seriously in the neat way.
Been neat with these birds is one of the best way to reduce the chance of a failure....plus the satisfaction of having something that not only work good, but looks awesome.

Very nice work on the install in your ViperJet. Are those Hitech HS-55's running your air valves? How have those been working out for you? Get your butt out to California, talk to you soon.

Good to heard from you....thanks for the complement....unfortunelly that picture belong to my first Viper...RIP[]
Yes, those are HS-55 with 16 onz of torque at 4.8 Volt. I was working with 6.0 Volts. The rods were attacth to the inner hole....and worked PERFECT.
We'll meet you next yeat at FJ-06, but this time we'll take our planes with us.

tschuy is right... Planing is the key. Work it all out on paper or draw it on mounting surface, trial fit it all. I would also try to make it as easy as possible to remove and service each component without having to take a lot of things out or apart.

Great installations - when I rebuild my Boomerang, I shall endeavour to emulate some of the work here.
