Default Servo for tail rudder

Hi I am a total newbie to R/C helicopters and have been reading many webpages on how to trim the heli to enable best flight. I think I am almost done but have a problem with the servo for the tail rudder. With throttle/collective stick right down the servo activates the tail rudder perfectly and the tail rudder swings side to side and comes back to neutral well. However when increase the throttle/collective stick the servo to the tail rudder also turns resulting in the tail rudder turning as well. Because of this the servo has turned fully in one direction pushing the stick in the opposite direction will only return the tail rudder back to neutral. I know that the tail servo rudder is mixed with collective function but I am not sure if what my heli is doing is right. Will the gyro correct this once the heli is in the air? ie will gyro turn servo in opposite direction if it senses the heli swinging around? I am too scared to fly the heli because of this.

Default RE: Servo for tail rudder

1. At extreme throw of the servo the heli should spin regardless of high or low throttle/collective stick (except of course when it's stationary on the ground). You don't want that so your setting is wrong and you should get that sorted out before you fly it.

2. The sychronized, or mixed, rudder servo movement from throtttle/collective input is for rate gyros only. If yours is a heading hold gyro you don't need such setting (or mixing). The gyro will figure out the correct degree of compensation required, and such setting will only do harm confusing the heading hold gyro causing your heli to spin erratically.

3. Very few can teach themselves to fly a heli successfully. Those days were gone and you will probably crash and, depending on the size and power of your heli, a crash CAN KILL. And I'm not talking about large models here anything larger than the smallest toyish electrics can maim a spectator or yourself, and you don't want to end up like that. So tell us it's a 300gm fixed pitch or XRB, or you have an instructor but then he should be competent and set up your heli right.

Please, otherwise, do not fly that thing until you get enough help.

Clement
