The White Knight was contracted to drop test Boeing's X-37, instead of using NASAs B-52. The project was cancelled a few years back, but Boeing is still developing it, along with DARPA apparently.

I was on the X-37 program contracting for Boeing back in 1988. Original plan it was designed to belaunch from space shuttle bay until later on due to some technical issue...At one time we were looking at some alternate launch platform....One was on top of DELTA IV which I was on from conceptual design to first flight.
