Default SkyShark Christen Eagle Engine

Anyone put a DA-50 in the SkyShark Christen Eagle? If so, how did it work out?

rbentley, go directly to Mike at SkyShark and ask him....he really tests and retests his models before releasing them.

Well, I tried that and, so far, I have had no reply.

You need at least a 50 onthis bird to be comfortable,,, we had a 35cc gasser on it to start with and it wouldn't hardly take off,,,

I am running an OS 1.60FX and it is plenty for this plane ... but I am close to sea level here in Texas.

I've got the Great Planes Eagle and fly it with Moki 1.80 , another here uses a Moki 2.10 they both fly great. Not a 3D machine but a good scale flying plane. Since the Skyshark is in the same weight area, the 1.80 would be plenty. Unless of course you just got to part with the 500 plus dollars to get the D.A. Either way good luck. Mike

Hi rcmiket, I have noticed you are not using servos in the top wing is there any reason for this, your Eagle looks great , l am not at that stage of building the GP Eagle as yet as l have another project going on , the Eagle will be the next in line. Great pics,

Thanks, I din't want the wires showing. I used some high tork servos and drove the top with 40-40 rods. Works great and have had no problems.-Mike

I have one with a brison 2.4 and it flies great with this set up. Plenty of power!! also a servo on each control surface. I think the DA 50 would be a bit much for this plane

How does the airplane balance with the 2.4? I have the same 2.4 engine in a QQYak 72 and love it. Just curious on the weight. A Fuji 43 is only 3.5lbs with the muffler. I have not been able to get on to find a weight on the Brison since their web site is down.

I flew mine with a Brillelli 26cc. It had plenty of power but not for 3D.
It would probably fly stronger with a 50 but I don't think the landing gear would stand up very long.
I have an SPE 26 in it now

Hey Ham, to answer your balance question with the 2.4 it balances right on the money. But I also have it hooked up with 2 battery packs for the reciever and another one for the ignition. all 3 battery packs are 2100 mah NI-MH the one for the ignition is mounted right on the side of the motor box and my eagle also has a smoke pump on it too... I do not know the final weight but I do know it balances perfect and i get about 15 min flight times, and it does pretty much anything my fingers are able to get it to do
