Default 47" Yak Quality?

I just got my 47" Yak arf yesterday. I finally got to look at it today. I found a couple of small problems i would like to bring to someones attention. In comparing the ailerons, one of them is almost 1/8" wider at the root than the other. Will this affect it's flight performance? Also there is not a torque rod for the elevators in the kit. This is a simple fix, no big deal. I am just concerned about the ailerons. It's a great looking airplane otherwise. Super light weight, covering is great. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Duane Higgs

1/8" on the ailerons is not going to make a flight performance difference. If you want you can peel back the covering on the other aileron and shave 1/8" off it. I've done that before on my Katana ARF.

If you need a picture of the torque rod we can post it for sizing. I don't know exactly what size rod you use for that, Mike will tune in or ship you one right out.

Thanks for the fast reply. I believe a 2/56 rod would work for the torque rod. I just need something for a pattern.

Was your Torq rod left out or do you have to make your own? Is the OMP hardware pack included?

All of the hardware is included. I think it was just left out. It all seems to be usable.

The torque rod was supposed to be in the hw pack supplied by the factory. It's a 3/32" music wire (spring steel) U shaped rod. The length is 3.25" (top of U) and each leg is roughly 1" long (the part that sticks into the elevators). If you want we can mail you one.

You should take them up on the offer of a stock one. Making your own is good, but bending spring steel can cause fractures....so you would have to bend cold rolled steel, then heat treat it to get the same stiffness.

And, we are talking about the elevator. Muy importante.

I put my control horn directly over it, and one the other side (slave) I clamped it with a another control horn clampset.

Climbing flat spinssss

Correct.

I was in a flat spin and started an ascending vertical flat corkscrew...!!!!

I am stoked on this plane, So much so, that I want to take my YS110FZ spare and throw it in a 65" proffy Yakky.

Way cool , man. I have not gone through 30% heli this fast before....I am going to wearout a set of gear on this plane for sure, it is going to get more stick time than the rest of the hangar, at least for a little while. [8D][8D] Everyone that has flown mine,,7 people so far , has handed me back the box and said ..WOW.

Well, it's a good thing you didn't let them fly a 65" Yak. They wouldn't have given you the box back at all...

Hey Dion, Do you know if John received the yak I sent back. I've tried emailing and he has not responded. I was just wondering when I might receive one back. Thanks, Big Al
