Default FPE 2.4 with a zinger Pro 20/8 rpms

I have about 3 gallons thru the fpe 2.4 with the pro zinger 20/8 only getting about 6800 rpms. I think i should getting more than that i have the motor on a Kange Hurricane. Flys ok but i could use more rpms Any one experiencing that kind of readings. I tied leaning the high up a little but it will die on vertical so this indicates a lean mixture??

My FPE 2.4 with CH ignition is still in it's first gallon, and I'm getting 7200 on the ground with a 20x8 Pro Zinger. What you described indicates a slightly lean mixture on the high end. Do you have the CH ignition?

I meant dying when vertical means it's lean. I think your RPM is about right for the fixed ignition.

Someone said there was a difference of about 300 RPM, and smoother running throughout the range. They're still good engines with fixed ign. I believe you have to send it to Kurt at FPE for the CH ignition upgrade. I'm told that the hub and sensor have to be replaced. Not sure of the cost. The price new w/CH Ign. was $75 more than with fixed. 400 RPM with that prop is only 2.5lbs. difference in thrust & 3 mph. I would say "Just fly yours & have fun"
