180 Saito vs what size gas engine?
I am building the 1/4 scale Adrian Page GEE BEE R2 and was wondering what gas engine would be a good match. It calls for a 180 Saito but I would like to try gas this time. A little more power would be fine and the cowl is 15" across so any engine will fit.
Best regards,
Randy

Talking about max. rpm on a 16*10 / 17*8, a MVVS 1.6 piped is comparable with a Saito 1.80 (have both of them)
All the rest is different and I like them both.

RE: 180 Saito vs what size gas engine?
Recently entered the realm of 'gassers' and love it!! My entry is a 12 lb. Funtana Pro with a Brison 2.4. It's a wonderful combination up here in the mountains - I fly at over 5000 feet! I also own a Saito 180 and am familiar with it's strong output and reliability. The Brison 2.4 in addition to being a real pretty engine, has a great power to weight ratio and an attractive price. Be sure to select a Bisson muffler - this engine does NOT like back pressure. I also like to use av-gas, MUCH less stink and MUCH better storability! Having good luck with Amsoil Saber synthetic oil.
Good luck.
