Looking for an internet link for a set plans or details on building a fixture to true the edges of balsa sheeting by sanding them. I know there is a commercially available unit, but I am cheap.....er a...... I mean frugal, yeah that's it, frugal .

Consider the problem.
Consider how you would fix the problem, using locally available material.

What's wrong with a quality straight edge and a sharp blade?

I try to avoid sanding dust when possible, especially if there's another way to accomplish the same result.

I agree on this one. Balsa sheeting edges are NEVER true coming of the box. Use a straight edge and a single edge razor takes care of the problem in no time.

Guys, I am looking for an edge true fixture that uses sandpaper. I know about razor blades and Xacto.

Been my experience that the wood grain causes some wander, no matter how hard you try. I made a simple fixture out of two Home Depot pre-made shelves, a piece of angle iron 4 feet long, a couple of bolts and some sticky back roll sandpaper. You can do the same thing with aluminum bits form the hardware store. I just wanted a heavy tool that I didn't have to clamp down. There was an article in Flying Models a few issues back that showed a similar tool.

This is how I do it. I plan to build a better one with a formica surface which will be more slippery.

Cafeenman,
Thanks, that was the link I was looking for. Nice to know it will work with several sheets stacked.
Thanks
