Hybrid Exhaust Help
I just bought a DA50 and a slimline pitts exhaust SL 2123. The muffler will not fit by a long shot. It's wider than the fuse. So far I haven't asked the right person on what being used on this. I'm going to try calling OMP again today, but they haven't been answering the phone lately.

RE: Hybrid Exhaust Help
Well even if you get through to Vicki on the phone she won't be able to help you technically. She would say "contact Mike and let me have Mike call you!" Anyway using that muffler is no problem as you have to make cutouts in the ply cowling sides to clear the muffler. That's what is done on any of the setups given this is basically a huge funfly plane with a very narrow fuselage. Look at the pictures in the manual as there are some that show the pitts muffler setup. You'll need a round hole on the one side for the muffler end to stick through and an oval hole on the opposite side for the exhaust header portion to fit through. Not hard to do and works very well with that engine.

RE: Hybrid Exhaust Help
More mods that the plans dont show This kit has my pro builder wondering what language the instructions are in. He has now thrown the instructions away and replaced some of the wood in the kit. (We found some of the 1/16th balsa was actually about 1/20th in size which caused a lot of ripples and waves down the fues and on top of the wings. So we replaced with some stronger 1/16th).
BTW, WHat is the best motor for this thing??? A DA-50, MVVS 58 or ZDZ 60???

RE: Hybrid Exhaust Help
The instructions are in English and we(I) very often get high compliments on the instruction manuals. What language does your pro builder speak?
As far as engine, the DA 50 is very popular but many prefer even more power. The Brison 4.2 is a good choice but I have no experience with the MVVS .58. But I can say the MVVS line has a tremendous reputation and I'm sure that would be a great choice.

RE: Hybrid Exhaust Help
His only problem was cutting the sheeting off for the wing...???? Im not building it so I dont know. All I know is that I have several profiles and have had a couple of OMP planes and I LOVE them!!! Just dont have the time for building, I want something BIG that flies like a funfly...I searched for a DA-150 powered one but nobody had one [] so I got the biggest that I could find. I also have a moki 1.80 laying around...would that be good on any of the large 79 - 80" profiles or not enough??
So, if you had to put a motor on there and price was no object what would it be??? The brison is OK but not as light as I would like to go. This thing is getting a Li-ion system and CF wing tube if I can find one the right size, so I dont want to kill the weight savings with more weight. You can PM me with the response if you dont want to make any of the manufactuers upset.
ALso is this fusion thing going to be available in ARF form any time down the road. I got a saito 1.00 that could be used on it as soon as my fliton extra gets old. I have been flying precision way too long and Im ready to get back to having fun
