Default G&L 50% Pitts

Has anyone out there ever built this plane? I am getting ready to tackle this and any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Clarence

Have one offered in the marketplace. They are like any other f/g plane with foam wings. Recommend building prior to selecting a engine, some may be too light. Also a flange to mount the cowl would be spiffy, get away from nylon bolts in wood blocks to rely on. Access hole under the firewall could be accomplished too.

The wingspan measurements for an S1A seem to be off. 96" doesn't seem to be correct. 204" is the full scale, so 50% is 102".
Was there a 192" S1A?

Never was an S1-A Pitts. All single seaters went, S-1, then the S1-C, S1-D, S1-S, and S1-T. Then S-2, S2-A, S2-B, S2-C, and S2-S. The first S-1 Pitts had a span of 16 feet 7 inches. After the first S-1, the rest spanned from 17' 1" to 17' 4", depending on model. Scott

Thanks, sorry about the "A". I knew there was never an S1A, but thanks for the correction. So, you do agree that 96" is off? Most S1's of any series are above 207" and even the original S1 is 199".

Thanks,
Clarence

Personally, I don't think anything from Greg at G&L is perfectly scale. I have seen the plane, and it looks funny to me. The Byron's were nice and scale, and also the old Pilot kits. I know Andy Sheber plans are nice, but I don't know much about Bob Dively models, although it looks good in the pictures. Scott

Bob Dively models are kits from the Andy Sheber S2A plans. They also have the plans for Andy Sheber S1, but at times it is hard to get a copy.

Well, it looks like I'll be starting this project in October. I am finishing final setup right now. I am going to post all of the progress to a website as well as this forum.

I will keep tabs on your project. My 42% Challenger Pitts should start soon, (within 8 months). Good to see some biplanes being built. Scott
