Default Dragonfly 4 tail motor compatability

Can someone tell me if this is compatible with my Dragonfly 4? It's the GWS direct drive tail motor with the prop adapter and 4530 prop and also the GWS tail fin to mount the motor on. Will I have to do major surgery to get it on my heli? Is there a better set up for my heli? I figured since I already broke my stock tail rotor and I've heard the tail motors on these things burn up easily I thought I'd do a little upgrade now.

ANY info I can get will be helpful.
Thanks

Hi Seabear,

You sent us your "Cart" URL, which of course, doesn't exist for the rest of us...

But a few of us have tried GWS direct drive tail motors and props. They actually work pretty well. just screw them in

But the centre of the prop seems to rip out over time for some reason.
Also, a bad strike can bend the shaft -

The only real gripe is that the tail hunts a bit under power, due to quicker response.

Thanks. I'll probably give it a try then. Is there a list anywhere of what helis are interchangeable as far as parts go or is that just something you learn as you go?
Thanks again,
Bryan

Here's the link I should've put the first time...

Looks like what I used. Although I got some blades in the pack also...

I don't know of any list as far as interchanging parts but I know that most GWS parts will work as well as Sabre parts and I know Hummingbird tail motors work because I use them! Helihobby,Century and others have parts and upgrades for the Dragonfly and other helicopters.

Does that group of helis with compatible parts also include scale bodies?
I'm pretty new to this whole thing, especially electrics so here's a rookie question. How long do I charge my battery? The 'alleged' manual, and I use that term in its broadest sense , said 2 hrs before the first flight but what about after that? After the initial charge the battery didn't even feel warm but since then it felt hot after about an hour.

Thanks for the information guys. I've GOT to get an order in tonight so I can get this thing in the air (hopefully) this week.
Thanks again,
Bryan

Helihobby does have some scale bodies that will fit the Dragonfly-also in their "tips and tricks" section you can download for free a few cut and fold paper canopies[not too realistic but free!].As far as charging, without a sophisticated charger I just charge for 2 hours or until the battery feels hot.I guess it depends on how much the battery was discharged-I just check it every 15 mins or so.

thanks

about the hummingbird tail motors...centuryheli lists the N30 for the hummingbird which i thought nobody liked. the other tail motor they have is less and i suppose a downgrade from the N30. i guess i'm going with the GWS motor and tail fin mount.
anyone know if this motor will be self explanatory when i see it or will i need to do a bit of 'engineering' [&:] to get it on their 'cause it looks like the connector will be a ways away from where it needs to be.
thanks again

You should be able to unsolder the wires from stock N30 and solder them to the new direct drive motor.
