Ka Ching!
THANK YOU, RCU, for letting us have this forum! I can't wait to see how this develops.
Let me start off with the URL's to my twin projects, then a couple of "issues"...
The 1/6th scale King Air that Paul Reese and I are building is at http://www.nextcraft.com/b200_construction01.html
The 1/6th scale Piaggio "Avanti" P180 is at http://www.nextcraft.com/avanti.html
Bigggest interest for me right now is two things:
1. Does anyone have experience with using electric power for models this size?
2. Does anyone have experience with the RCV engines? (reliability, etc.)
Alright, this will be fun!

I am looking forward to see a Piaggio "Avanti" P180 in action, and perhaps own one some day.
Who is the person from Alaska, any chance he/she is in the Fairbanks area?

Large Electric Twins
Mike,
I have been working with 18 volt DeWalt motors for the last year on several projects I have. Got a 9 foot SPAD that I have been doing some motor test with, and have hovered a HVTOL in the 8 pound range spinning two semi ducted counter rotating fans. Seems to be a fine motor with plenty of power for weight, and the price is right. Email me for some further information.

I just found a Twinstar, and plan on getting my learning/practice in with it first. Then maybe move up to a C47 that I'll build in gunship trim.
I got a special place in my heart for that plane from back in 68-69

FXD On the Bride Shrike commander they have a nasty habit of tip stalling on landings. even at a faster landing speed. I read this from a fourm a couple years ago, and one of the guys we fly with built one and sure enough on the first landing it tip stalled. tore out one retract and some wing tip dammage. The guy flying it is a very good pilot. We done some checking and the wing needed to be completely redesined. He hasen't flowen it since. Hope this helps. Rich

If you like giant scale type planes, Modaire has a nice semi kit of
aerocommanders.. I have been drooling over this one for a while..
The price tag is a tad hefty and making it gets even more hefty..
So I figure I will have to wait a little while before I can get one.. In
mean time I will try to get both my Nosen 310's done...

FXD,
What all is included in the kit.. I have never seen the Palmer plans
so I am wondering how close to 'real' it looks.. Is it more of a scale or more of a stand off scale..?
Also, FXD,, I do not understand what this is/means..? ):
The 310's I have are the Nosen 310 which are the 10' ones, yes..
And they are more of a stand-off scale...
Oh,, and did I mention they are a ROYAL PIA to build..

Seen Robby fly
NOW FXD if you have seen Robby fly then you would know why he needs two. Just messing with you Robby. I wish I had the time to build two 310s from Nosen heck I won't even take the time to open a Nosen box. Those are just to much work. That is why Robby is going to pull Glass fuses off of one that he is building right Robby.

Robby...... I noticed that you realy like the thought of the Modaire aero commander. well I have that kit, but have not started it yet. that will be my winter project. the kit is well worth the money even though it is pricy. I you realy want it, you cound try what I did. I built three kits and did multiple repairs and one rebuild and the thre poeple I did this for (who have more money than I ever will) pitched in and bought me the kit. It is an all fiberglass fuse and cowlings. with 64th ply sheeted foam wings and tail . also it has a great design for the detachable outer wings . the power needed is not all that expensive either. two g38's are all you need
which you could posibly pick up here or on E-Bay for less than a New OS 120. what realy got me for being pricy was the landing gear which is from robart with a retail of around $550 without wheels , brakes or air syst. I was real lucky and found my landing gear for sale right here on RCU ( all but the air syst ) for $350, used.
So any way.... Don't think its out of your reach If you just work on getting one thing at a time.
Hopefuly I will be flying mine by mid next summer and will post some of my building and flying experiances.
Hope all get there dream projects like I did.
Good luck.......... [email protected]

As far as pictures of Dales Shrike, he has moved back to the valley for the winter.
FXD if you would send me a PM with your E mail address I would be happy to forward it on to Dale and he could explain the wing change to you.
