RE: Tornado
My son and I have flown the GWS and similar elecrics and the Tornado is definately better. More durable for sure and is way more stable than my GWS. We recently replaced the motor as we simply wore it out and also switched to a 3 cell lipo pack. So far it's going really strong!

RE: Tornado
Well my Thuderbird/Cyclone/Tornado is apparently DOA. I charged up the battery and tried to run the heli and it will just spin on the floor. I get no response at all from the tail rotor. Could be my tail motor is bad, or the esc's,gyro or my luck a combination of all...Have no clue what to do as OMP doesn't seem to want to help fix this problem...

RE: Tornado
You do realize that this is how FP helis work. The motors only spin 1 direction and torque off the rotor for the other direction.
Can you put some juice right on the motor to see if it's bad?

RE: Tornado
Yes I realize that's how FP helis work. The tail rotor will not move at all when I give it rudder from the TX. Nothing...The first time I powered it up and gave it some throttle to see what settings needed to be done on the gyro, the heli started spinning counter clockwise. There was no tail rotor spinning at all, either by itself or when I try and give it rudder control from the TX. I know these tail motors are gonna give quickly, but this one yet to do anything. I'm guessing the ESC is bad...

Easier said then done as I don't have another RX readily available to check it. I'm taking this in tomorrow to my LHS to have them check this out. My question is once they find the problem and I end up having to pay whatever to get new stuff, whether it be the motor, gyro or esc, will OMP be reimbursing me for this?

RE: Tornado
$13 for that tail motor is insane! That little motor should be about $5-7 in any hobby shop. We could have shipped you one at no charge.
Sorry but our policy is to replace any defective part.

By the Msken, stay far away from this helicopter OMP is selling. It is a Colco Thunderbird 2 which you can buy off eBay for less than $100. I would send you a copy of the manual, but it as worthless as you could possibly imagine.

Please read the SUPPORT FORUM GUIDELINES.
Also replacing defective parts is pretty much standard in this business. We do not like to pay your hobby shops profits when we would could of easily shipped you out a replacement part.

What's insane is that you charged me $170 for a $100 helicopter. It is also not standard policy to have to repair things before you use it. I paid a measly $13 for a tail motor (that includes the price for them to put it on for me and test it) and you can't even reimburse that...Now you delete my last post...That's insane...

The world is not a perfect place. You can't honestly tell me that OMP is the first company in the world to ever ship a defective product. We don't mean to do it, but it happens and when it does, we make good on it as best we can.
You decided to take this matter into your own hands, which is fine. I told you before you found out your motor was bad that we would be more then happy about replacing anything that was defective if you recall when we were discussing your radio. In fact I offered to replace your entire helicopter system.
We will still honor our original offer and ship you out a new motor if you want one.

RE: Tornado
No you told me to ship the helicopter back and you would send me another one. Let's see I can get a motor installed for $13 or I can pay $20 to ship it back and wait 2 weeks for another one. Which one should I choose??? And there was no reason to delete my last post, other than you didn't want ayone to see it...
