different glow plugs??
Hey im still kind of newby in nitro rc but ive had 1 nitro truck the smartech magic wheel which is broken now and im getting a t-maxx in about 2 weeks. But anyway is their different glow plugs that you have to use for different engines? Because when i got my first car (the smartech) my dad went out to our lhc which is about an hour away and got all the starting equip for me and talked to the guy and everything. I think he said when he got the extra glow plug he had to go through a big droor (i think i spelled that wrong) full of them. So do different engines take different types of glow plugs or can you use the same glow plug on a different engine? Also are they supposed to keep working even after they get wet or drenched in oil because while running my smartech (drove shafts are broken so it doesnt move it just runs) I had it going full throttle for about 5 seconds and a spark came from where the engine was and the glow plug popped out and landed in water. I dried it off and started the car with the same glow plug since i lost my other one. Also the glow plug has been covered in oil at times too. Are glow plugs supposed to be this durable or is the one on mine just barely starting the car and has very bad performance.
Soryy for the long question but i just never knew that much about glow plugs.

RE: different glow plugs??
what my questio for you is how did the glow plug pop out if it was screwed into the head of the engine? and where did the spark come out of? but yes a glow plug should still be able to work after it gets wet, but you have to make sure its completely dry. the other question you had was are there diffrent glow plugs for diffrent engines and the answer is, kinda. there are diffrent glow plugs there are hot medium and cool, and regular and turbo. the hotness (or coolness) of the plug varies by mnufacturer but they tell how hot the glow plugs get. genrally the bigger engine or the higher the nirto content in the fuel the cooler the plug for example: a .12 would run a hotter plug than a .21, and 20% nitro fuel would run a hotter plug than 30% fuel. there is also another diffrence in plugs, regular or turbo, this is the explanation of the shape of the glow plug, turbo plugs have an extended tapered piece at the end of the plug past the threads, and regular plugs are threaded all the way down. you have to pay attention to this because there are diffrent types of engine heads and engines with turbo heads won't use regular plugs and the same for regular heads they wont run with turbo plugs. i hope i have answered all you questions if you have anyother questions you can pm me and we can talk about it more in depth.

RE: different glow plugs??
Thanks a lot you answered all my questions . Ill ask my local hobby shop about which glow plugs i should get for my t-maxx and stuff. But now for some answers to your questions. The spark came from where the glow plug is. Also i screwed in the glow plug with my glow plug igniter lol. Also the cooling engine isnt cylindrical like most cars/trucks. If you look at it overhead ( birds eye view) then its looks like a square. About 1.5 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide. But its about .75 inches in height. Also its black not red or blue or purple or w/e. I put in 3 pics of the remote and my glow plug igniter and then one of the glow plug igniter again and then one of my glow plug (i moved it so you see its bottomed and side). I tried to get some of the engine and the weird cooling head but it always turned out very dark. But the pics might look weird because they are scanned. When you click on the link to the pics make sure to maximize the window to make the pics a lot bigger. If you want some more answers ill be happy to answer!
P.S. heres some info on the glow plug:At the very top it has a part that goes in and then goes into a cone shape. In the middle it has 2 places where the glow plug igniter attaches onto it with 6 sides each. Right after that is just a cylinder section then it gets smaller and goes into the threading. At the end of the threading it stops. Coil is going straight down and is white. Has a little piece that goes up to the top to keep it stretched. Can you tell me what type of glow plug this is? Also refer to the pic of it. It still does glow orange and everything but i tried to scan it glowing and it didnt come out good.
