Newb needs help on picking a ST....
I'm looking into getting either a 1/10 or 1/8 stadium truck, I want a 4wd and a 2 speed and nitro of course, I am new to R/C so this is kind of foriegn to me, I mean I've fooled with them a little bit, I was looking at the Hot Bodies Lightning stadium trucks, are these any good?? They have a few to chose from, like the pro and the SS, I don't know the difference between them. I was also looking into the HPI Hellraiser, but it hasn't came out yet. I like the MT2 SS, but it's a 1 speed, is there a kit to convert it to 2 speed?? I want something that I can bash on and can take it pretty well, I don't mind replacing parts here and there, but not every run, I heard the MT2's are kind of fragile, also the rear diff's have shimming problems??? What do you guys recommend?? BTW, I want a RTR and something that's not too difficult to operate/repair, I have buddies that are hardcore into this so if I need any assistance with breaking in the engine and stuff like that they can give a hand....
Thanks
Thanks

I'd add the sportwerks mayhem ST to your short list. I've recently added one to my collection and I've been very impressed thus far (my current MTs are HPI Savage SS, 21 TMaxx, Revo, Mad Force, and the mayhem ST). It's based on their 1/8 scale buggy (longer suspension arms, drive shafts, shocks, shock towers), so the performance upgrades for the mayhem pro buggy will bolt right on. One other nice touch is the hex drive starter setup (I use a cordless drill rather than the hand held unit they provide) on a rather potent 0.28 engine.

I own a CEN Fun Factor ST and it's a cracking car. Spare parts and hop-ups shouldn't be a problem in the US either. I don't know about Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium. I know the Lightning 2 (the buggy version of the Lightning) is a really great car, so I would assume the Stadium is good also. However don't go on my word!

I recommend the Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium Truck, comes with a .26. It's a single speed, though.

thanks for the replies, I was also looking at the Mayhem, does the mayhem and lightning's hold up to bashing well?? I would like to get a 2 speed truck if I could find one, are there any conversion kits to convert it from one speed to 2?? What about MT's, I was also looking at a Associated Monster GT, any good?? Sorry for throwing all this stuff out, but I know you guys know more about this stuff then me.

Truggies such as the hotbodies lightning and the sportwerks mayhem ST do not need a 2 speed transmission. My mayhem ST accelerates faster and has a higher top end than my revo (pre-OS18TZ).
