aeroworks 36%katana servo selection??
I bought the AW Katana36% and am now deciding on the servos to put in. I am seeing some problems with the HS-5945mg I am now looking at the HS645 servos. Is this a decent option? what servos are being used with good reliabilty? I now have a money budget to work within. I plan on 4 for ailerons, 2 for elevator and 1 really big or 2 smaller for rudder.
The kit went together with little to no problems, I would not hesitate to buy another one. looks like I will have approx 8-10hr in for ready to fly condition. Changing the CA hinges to giant scale sig hinges took the most time so far. they are bigger than the dubro
GS hinges. DA100 for power up front.
Thanks for any advice on servo selections.

If you don't mind changing brands, the JR 8611a servos are excellent. Huge power and very accurate. I have them on my 31%CA Extra and they are plenty - even w/ 1 on each aileron. I also have 1 on each elevator half and 2 in a SWB tray w/ bellcrank on the rudder. For a 21lb plane it is more than enough.

I am using Hitec 5945's on every thing except rudder wich is one 5995 Titanium gear servo at 333oz's of torque and trust me it has tones of rudder authoity. Just my setup but it works very well. The 8611a's would also be a good alternative but still use 2 per alieron you might be able to get away with a single on the rudder though.

Being budget minded, below is the equipment on mine:
Engine: 3W106 with Super Sonic mufflers
Spinner: Tru Turn 4"
Prop: 28 x 10 Beila
Batteries: 2@ 4000 ma NiMH for rec, 2000 NiMH for ignition, 600 NiMH for smoke
Electronics: Hitec Rec., Smart Fly Power Expander and optical ignition cut-off
Rudder servo: Hitec 5955TG
Elevator: 2@ Hitec 5625MG
Ailerons: 4@ Hitec 5625MG
Throttle: Futaba S148
Graph Tech main gear and tail wheel
Pilot: Aircraft International
The 5955 on the rudder seems to be plenty.

I would still use 2 on the rudder as well, a few may have had good luck with 1 on the plane, but I ran 2 8611s on mine and it was plenty, but wouldnt have wanted any less.
