RC Designers
I was just wondering what it takes to design rc cars for a living? I would assume a mechanical engineering degree would be a requirement, that or an industrial designer. Where are those jobs posted? Do you have to already be a pro racer?
I am just looking for details.
Thanks

Hey Sleepy,
You could start with mechanical engineering. I could be wrong but I believe that's what Adam Drake is by trade at Losi. To answer your second question, no you don't have to be a pro driver. A lot of the manufacterers post job openings on their respective sites. My advice to you is get good at CAD... especially Solidworks and keep dreaming. When I was a kid I always wanted to be a writer for a RC magazine and I worked at it until I made it. Good luck!

RE: RC Designers
actually i am not a kid, i am a mechanical engineer. I have been designing machines for a major automotive supplier for 4 years now. I have also done alot of redesign on my own rc cars. Because lets face it, the factory designs for profit, I design for speed.

RE: RC Designers
Great question, I have often wondered the same thing too ! As a matter of fact I thought about that thirty years ago and wondered when ANY MANUFACtURER would design and build a proper radio controlled snowmobile ?? Funny, I am still wondering.
As it would be I didn`t wait and made my own for Myself the way I thought it should be "designed"
