Default Draganflyer V Ti Pro Issues/Fixes

Hello. My name is Jeff and I am in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I have been flying the Draganflyer V Ti Pro for about 6 weeks as of this post and have had no prior experience with RC units at all before getting this helo. I have to say this is an amazing piece of technology.

Are there any other Draganflyer V Ti Pro pilots that I can share my experiences with to possibly solve some issues that I have been having? I may be able to help others with my fixes as well. Thanks.

Sky High,

I guess I should of read this new thread you started before replying in the other. You answered my question about your experience in this one.

Well we will see what happens to this new thread as the DF flyers seem to go with the original.

I have been flying about 6 months but certainly not continuous. Probably have logged about 50-60 flights all in my back yard. Have made a few vids but they are shaky. I did purchase another camera from micro wireless along with a 8db patch antenna. That made quite a bit of difference.
I put the foam on mounts and will give it a try when the winds calm down a bit. I am only using the eyecam camera and not the extreme.

Hunter, are you saying you put foam padding in the ball joints of the of the Eyecam mount like I did? What was the result?

Motor Connections

Does anyone have a better way to connect the motors to the wiring harness other than soldering? Number one, it is too time consuming and number two, if you have to cut the wires to get a better end for soldering, you lose length and then you have to replace the whole damn harness! [:@] If there could be slip-on connectors, you could perform all repairs with only a hex wrench and flathead driver!

Recently I have noticed my DF V Ti Pro losing power in mid flight for a fraction of a second (enough to make it drop like a rock) and then regains power thank God.......for a fully recovery. This has happened three or four times in the last week or so and there doesn't seem to be any evidence as to why it would be doing this. I usually have full batteries on the flyer and the remote. Everything seems too be tight and well connected.......however I did notice recently that I have a small crack in one of the filter capacitors. I would not think that would cause lose of power intermintently? Would it? Any suggestions?

Phodel, what you described occassionally happens with both of the DF V's I fly so it's not just yours. However, my incidents have not happened as often as yours. Others have also described that definite second of rotor silence when your heart drops to the floor, especially when hovering over a structure, tall trees, water, busy intersection/road or worse, people! [X(]

They also both seem to fall suddenly and rapidly with NO intermittent loss of power, like what you described, even when the throttle setting has not been reduced. This indicates that the same amount of power is being used but is said to happen because the rotors' downwash is pushing the air out of the column directly underneath thereby creating a vacuum and causing it to drop. [sm=eek.gif] Very frustrating, especially when you have a great hover going and when in the same conditions described above.

I have a few LED nav lights mounted on the frame stiffeners. I noticed several times that they were always rotated after a flight but couldn't figure out how or why this was happening. I thought that it was because of the rotor downwash. Finally, I have discoverd that my stiffeners are actually rotating in the in elbows during flight because of vibration. So, if you mount something to your stiffeners and whatever it is shifts during flight that's probably what it is. This issue was important to resolve because as the lights rotated their focal point changed and that's critical to maintain orientation. I'm going to tape the stiffeners at the elbows to fix this problem.

hey skyhigh

I told you guys my thoughts on how and why the stiffiners( at least om my DF) actually contribute to motor misalignment. take a look for me and see what you find
1: the way the fasteners attach to the motor mount across the bottom and just on oneside instead of both sides
2: if you look on the bottom of the motormounts. there is a little standoff(***) and for some reason every motormount i have received has had one of these but there all a different legnth. this *** is directly between where the stiffiner mates with the frame. if the *** is too long or too short it inhibits the stiffiners from helping to square the motors. in my app;ications
i have found that unless you file them down by the time the screw is tight enough to hold the motor it has actually pulled the motor off center the same way it pulls your lights.
one way to correct this would be witha bigger gusset than theone that is used or with a beefier ,two piece flatbar assembly with the 1/2 cutout for the stiffiners on each side mounted maybe 1/2 inch behind the gussit that is there now. if properly produced with "0" freeplay it would not only keep the motors from turning but also ba a nice stable place for your light.
what do you think

I rarely, if ever, have to adjust motor alignment. The rods are actually rotating in the elbows so the elbows are not moving at all. I found that taping them doesn't work. I'm going to try some heat shrink tubing to see if that will secure them. I know that gluing will work but that is so permanent.

How about a spot of "threadlock" on the joints? that would only be semi permanent. Just thought of this, haven't tried it yet :P

I found that the heat shrink wouldn't work either because it's too smooth and wouldn't grip the rod. I have glued each end with a drop of super glue and dare it to roll now. DFI said that's what they do too. The only problem with this is if you crash and only break a stiffener, you have to hope you can get each end of the two halves out of those elbows or you'll have to get two more elbows. [:@] If the rods where just bit larger in circumference, you could file the ends down square and that would fix this problem for sure.

what if you just wraped a piece of wirea few times around the rod twisted it and put a drop of superglue on that then ran the other end up and attached it to the motor housing . that way it woundnt roll and if you crashed it would still come apart

I too have had that sudden loss of power for no apparent reason. It doesn't last long, but I don't fly high right now and it sure does drop like a rock.

Well, after placing a drop of super glue in the top area of the elbow joints, that stiffener rod doesn't rotate anymore!
