Default JMP T-33

I know there are a lot of people that are very in the know on this model. I did a lot of searches on JMP and T-33 and didn't really find any build threads or any details. Anyone else have some good info and pics besides what is on the JMP site?

Hi Mark
Tom Cooks kits are the BEST there are, Bar none!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMO the GOLD standard for kits & his T 33 is OUTSTANDING I've built TWO the only thing that is needed is aero poxy and paint. The instruction manual (Believe its 50 pages) is photographs with a description of the work to be done below each photographs. It's better than a the FAA proceedures I use at work, And MOST IMPORTANT ... if you do have a problem , TOM is there to help. I will post pictures later
would I purchase another " Faster than a New York minute."

I agree, from the photos I've seen of the Firebird kit on here, I'm very impressed with the JMP stuff.

A few things not in the box or done to JMP kit.... "Gills" on the intakes and rear of wing on bottom of fuse, and the cockpit . The cockpit can be kitbashed by using the BVM cockpit kit(smaller in scale) or if lucky enough to find a killer cockpit for the t33.

The panel lines & access doors are molded in .This kit really goes together FAST .
The plane flys quite well on a Jet Cat P 80, although a P 120 gives you that added power if one has to go around again.

It might be Hi dollar but you get what you pay for.You won't be disappointed

BTW The T 33 has no bad flying characteristics, when set with the recommended throws . If anything the roll rate might be TOO high, I plan on reducing the aileron throw
Lost the Blue one due to Radio Lockout

I remember when they used to fly these on O.S. 91's and Dynamax fans back in the early 90's

I always thought they were way too big for this engine combo but they did fly ok.

The real thing could weigh up to 16100# and only had 4000# thrust. What a sweetheart...my favorite airplane of all times. It could actually go pretty fast ...505mph.

joe, how did you fit the blue box blue angels pilot figures in? did you have to cutoff any unseen part of them or were you able fit the entire figure? also, did the figures interfere with hatch removal for engine access? thanx, gunfyter[8D]

I have flown both of Joes T-33 and feel the 120 the best power plant for this bird. We are taking the 80 out this winter and installing a 120. I was at full stick with the 80 at takeoff waiting for it to get light and fly. Much better feeling with the 120 to pull back and go if needed in a hurry. Otherwise the 80 is ok for normal scale flying. Great shots Joe!!

Gunfyter
The pilots are cut mid chest the jump suits are a little longer. The front pilot could have been installed full lenght but would have presented a problem when installing the hatch, The rear pilot needed to be cut as it did hit the intake ducting. If one used a Killer cockpit it came with with a cockpit tub & figures are full
