Default for those who don't know yet..

this is what happen to the plastic gears using regular grease instead of silicon oil..the smaller gear is from losi tranny and the bigger one fron center differential of 4wd kyosho, they just melt..see the difference of the new and melted.

You shouldnt even grease plastic gears they don't need it, only time you need grease is metal on metal.

That's correct. No lube with plastic to plastic or plastic to metal.

oil on plastic gears SHORTENS their life! most plastic is self lubricating, you don't need anything. what happens when you do add oil is that the oil picks up dirt and dust, which then does a great job of sanding everything down for you.

well i rebuilt my diff about 2 years ago, well actually 4 years ago(donuts), 2 years ago took it apart to check it, and i used chasis grease, not regular grease, but chasis grease, and its working fine ever since, no problems, but i also have sun gears, it works a bit differently and they are metal, just the housing in plastic the outer gear is plastic that connects to the idler gear
