4.6 piston help please
I have never replaced a sleeve, piston and rod assembly myself before. I always had my buddy at the LHS do my work, but I think it's about time I started doing these fix's myself.
Here's my question;
On the 4.6 crankcase there is a notch for the sleeve to line up, so that's all good. The question comes up to the piston. The piston from top to bottom is two different lengths. One half is longer than the other half. I'm sure this is for a reason and I do not know which way it was aligned in the sleeve when I tore down the engine, besides the rod broke so it most likely spun in there anyway. So does the longer side of the piston go on the carb side, or the exhaust side ?
Thanx

RE: 4.6 piston help please
The long side of the pistonfaces the rear of the engine. Make sure you put the rod in the right way as well. The oil holes face the crank or the front of the engine.
