Default engine shut-off method?

I just got (XMAS) a REVO. I have 20 years experience with RC airplanes, and am enjoying the REVO so far.

Simple question. Is there an easier way to shut off the engine than to remove the body and squeeze the fuel-line clip? It just seems like such a hassle to have to pull the body off to kill the eninge. Am I missing something here?

Thanks,

Tim

Can't you set the trim on the radio so that when you adjust the idle with the trim it closes the carb completely and shuts off the engine. It used to work for my old plane and I use that method on my truck now. That way it's not cutting the fuel off, it's cutting off the air supply - I'm thinking this is a little better for the engine because it stays lubricated while shutting down.

I always plug the exhaust for temporary shutdowns. If I'm done for the day, I run the engine & fuel tank out of fuel.

You can't use this method because you need brakes in a car/truck!!! If you set up like this, you would kill the engine EVERY time you wanted to slow down.

It does leave fuel in the engine but does not flood it. It stops almost instantly.
Yes, you can burn your finger if you have a metal stinger. You can use a silicone exhaust deflector or a rag or anything handy to protect your finger. The Revo comes with a silicone extension that does not get hot enough to burn you.
IMHO, if you make shutting the engine off like this a habit you'll never have to fumble to get an engine shut down in an emergency. The exhaust is almost always accessable on a nitro engine, no matter what the vehicle.

And, as nitronut said, when you're done for the day, run the engine dry and do your after run procedure.

No, should only take 1-2 seconds. Be sure to close it off completely.

I plug the exhaust. Since the exhaust tip is plastic, it does not burn your finger. The Revo shuts off really quick and leaves the motor primed so it starts back up quickly.

Could there be something wrong that would cause it to not shut off right away?

Possibly an air leak. I would say if you can count more than 1 one thousand, 2 one thousand, 3 one thousand, before it shuts off and your finger is covering the exhaust hole, then you may have a leak somewhere.

The plugging method stops the fresh air/fuel mixture from entering the combustion chamber by creating backpressure. If the plug method takes a very long time (10 seconds like you said), then either fresh air/fuel is getting in, or exhaust is getting out and not stopping the fresh mixture from coming in as quickly.

make sure there are no rips in your coupler, its zip tied tightly on both sides and make sure your header is tight and is making a good seal. It should shut off instantly.

Reach under the left side and put your finger on the flywheel. It takes almost no pressure at all for the engine to stop. I have done it before on accident, reaching down and lifting it up on my son's Warhead.
