Extending t-maxx chassis
just wanting to make sure I get this right in my mind. If you extend the chassis of the truck, it should be more stable but not be able to turn as sharp, correct?
what are the reasons that you'd want to extend the chassis?

You normally extend the chassis to put a larger engine in. I guess it would be more stable from front to back, but not from side to side.

that thread did entirely nothing to explain to me WHY (other than having an extra 20 bucks in their wallet) I would want to extend the chassis. It may be "only an astonishing 10 post down from this" but it is astonishingly USELESS for the question I asked.. thanks for the help..

i don't have one, but i would like to for my maxx. other than bigger engine option and having a bigger truck, i think it would make the truck more stable at high speeds and on rough terrain.

By side to side I assume you mean in the turns. A longer chassis will actually make it more stable in the turns because the turning radius is increased. So pretty much it is just as StratCat said initially. You can make the chassis longer without a bigger engine by using either a .21 conversion chassis or by making your own extension. A 1.75 inch stretch will bring it to a near perfect 1/8th scale.

Increasing the turning radius doesn't make it anymore stable. It just gives it a larger turning radius. When you slam on the breaks, and then turn, It will not be any more stable.

RE: Extending t-maxx chassis
I have an extended Chassis for my T-Maxx. Chassis is 16" long 4 inches longer then a .21 conversion.
Anyhow, what I noticed to be a Huge difference, is the stability from front to back ( wich someone said), like no matter how hard I nail the throttle, there is NO WAY I wil flip over backwards, even with a Picco.26 Big block in it, it just catwalks, but wont flip even if I try to. The biggest and by far the most obvious of differences would be in any kind of hill climbing. I havent had to worry about rolling over backwards. As for making it more stable in the turns, I almost notice its worse off then a shorter chassis.
Anyhow, this is not a professional opinion..lol. But I had this exact discussion with a friend of mine, and after alot of playing with both normal and extended chassis, we came to the conclusion that the ONLY plus to extending it would be for either hill climbing, or whole shot stability.

This whole ordeal dogbone will make you look like a retard the rest of this week belive me, If he wanted a Real Monster Truck he wouldve talked to Tom Meents and got ahold of Maximum Destruction. There is no reason to lengthen a chassis besides motor and stability, And looks, but personnely I think they look retarted, They should space the wheels out a lil to even it out.

RE: Extending t-maxx chassis
I find that the extended chassis handles much better. More power transfer to the ground. and in turning because the front end stays down.
here is a pic of stock length and my BB chassis with setback suspension arms.

RE: Extending t-maxx chassis
Personally I think that a stock Maxx, and even a .21 conversion look funny, the truck is to square looking.
Someone said, 'Why make it bigger'.... im still wondering why someone would ask that..lol.
havent they heard bigger is better. jk
Anyhow, I think extended chassis looks sweet, as long as they arent to extended.

Well OK then, maybe you should go play a nice...quiet...soothing Ted Nugent album and think about it.

I may or may not extend the chassis, some of the comments about better handling has me curious, but I'm wondering how much of an improvement it would be to a truck used for bashing..
(I've got to get my steering right first)
