Default Removing glued tires, anyone have any tips

Hey I glued my tires on he rims with some team losi tire glue and now I need another rim. Before I tried to just go rip it off the rim I was wondering what the easiest way to remove them would be for minimum damage to the tire. Thanks

I have found the best way is to pre-heat your oven to 350 to 400 degrees. Turn off the oven and then put the tires on a cookie sheet and put them in the oven for 20 minutes or so. After the tires cool you should be able to pull the tires off the rim. I have tried this and it worked for me but the house does smell of hot rubber for a while.

There are two other options:
1) boil the wheels and tires on water for about 20 minutes and then let cool. You have to make sure the foams are dry before you re-use them.
2) soak the wheels and tires in acetone (nail polish remover). I haven't done this but i read that you really need to do this outside because of the BAD smell. Also the acetone will remove chrome off wheels.

I hope this makes sense and helps.

This is what I do:

1. boil some water
2. put the tire/rim in and let it float at the top for about 3-5 min
3. pull it out and try to remove the tire. It will usually start to come off in a few places
4. put it back in the water for 3-5 min
5. pull it out...

I usually have to do this about 3-4 times per tire/rim. Haven't lost a tire or rim yet, but there is some rubber pieces on the rim that I have to trim off.

Boiling = faded rims, risk of burns (hot water gets in the tire)

Baking = less mess, less burn risk, less rim damage risk.

Just be careful about baking them. Fire hazard, and the fumes are toxic. Please make sure children/pets are away if baking.

I dont see how it can be any easier then filling a cheap plastic bowl with acetone, and sticking the tire in it?

Its not.....I/M/O

I use acetone also. I put some acetone in a 3 gal bucket. When I need to do some tires I just plop them in for 2 days and they fall off the rim.

The acetone last for a season if you seal it.

ACETONE works great.. never has anything been so easy.. the glue just became like nothing,, cleaned the rim completely... no messy clean up either.. left the tires outside in a sealed container overnight and the side submerged just fell off the rim,, the other side should be done tomorrow.. i have several more pairs to do..
