outrunner mount / funtana
Thought this was pretty cool..
I was flying at the field today when a buddy asked me to wring out his funtana for him.. When I saw his outrunner mount I had him email me pics so I could post it for you guys..
I think it's a pretty cool idea. the point is it's light weight, it gets the outrunner where you need it on funtana type mini built-up planes that are getting popular. and in a crash, it'll likely bust before your shaft bends, or the airframe humpty-dumptys..
"Stephan, Mark's idea was a box of 6mm foam with plywood on both ends. I added 3/8" triangular stock running longitudinally (axially) inside the box and at selected places on the outside as shown. Mark thinks it is over engineered. It probably does not need the tri stock inside. The mount weighs 15 grams."

RE: outrunner mount / funtana
thats pretty cool....
I did mine much simpler with a piece of ply cut into a circle with a cut out for the stick. I dropped the mount down enough to get the cowl to match up with the shaft, and re-enforced the circle to the 4 sides of the stick mount via triangle gussets. His looks pretty darn good, almost pretty...
