Default 1 rudder servo on 33%er

With the new 8611 SA's at 300 oz/in plus @ 6v the temptation seems to be just to put one of these on my 33% Extra with a pull -pull arangement. I an taking the ones out of the back of the plane and changing to a pull pull anyway the plane needs nose weight. I know that redunecy with 2 servos is a issue . BTY it had 2 8411's in the rear of the plane to begin with.

I have one 8611a in the tail of my H9 Edge. Before you dive into that pull pull setup, you might want to check the cg again. The moment arm is more than 81" from the spinner to the tail, and the tail weighs 3lbs. or less, with the rest of the weight being on the main gear. The servo only weighs 2.03oz, but the long moment arm is substantial. I use a 3W 75i in my Edge, and was able to move things around and not add any nose weight. I think the mean time between failures is high enough now that you should be okay with one servo. Good luck.

This Extra is the AW 330. The guy that had it before me had a DA 100 with cans and I am going to be using a 3W 80 B2 with stock mufflers is the reason that I was thinking about the weight issue. He had twin rudder servos in the rear with the 100 and still had to add some lead in the nose. He weighed the plane at 26.3 pounds with dual Rx and Batteries. I will be using a single RX with one battery just like the set up in my H9 cap. I was hoping to shift things around and cut out the weight of a match box and extra servo and not have to add any lead. Thanks

Yes... a single 8611 is plenty especially if you get the weight under 25 lbs.

I run 2 in my 35%, but it is much bigger. I did run 1 in my H9 Edge before I sold it... seemed to be plenty.
