I belive a syntheized radio is a cicuit board with non removable components they are made to fit into smaller spaces.

A synthesized radio is actually just a transmitter and/or receiver that can synthesize the frequency you choose instead of having to change crystals. I don't know of any that will operate in both the 27 mhz and 75 mhz bands. 75 mhz will be the way to go (way more channels - (channels 61 to 90 there as opposed to only 6 channels in the 27 mhz band)). None of them are cheap but the Airtronics MX3S is a decent unit - I'm sure others here will have suggestions as well.
