Default Can I use NImH?

The instructions in my x-teminator 1/8 buggy says use alkalines in the transmitter and receiver. Anyone know if its ok to use rechargeable nickel metal hydrides instead? I assume rechargeable alkaline would be fine as well right?

Yes you can use NIMH batteries instead of alkalines. Try and use a high grade of battery and the higher the rating....MAH Rating......i.e. 1300....1600....1800....the better. I use 1800's in mine. Just be aware that when the NIMH's go dead....they go quickly. I always have an extra set to use as a backup if I intend to spend longer times "playing".

Be sure to buy the appropriate battery charger so you know that your not damaging your batteries. Checking the state of the battery can also be of help so you know what it's voltage / capacity is for run times. This is critical in both RC cars/ trucks as well as in airplanes. Gravity really sucks when those batteries go dead in an airplane!

Good Luck!

Also,
If your going to rechargeable batterys, you'll want to go to a 5 cell/6.0 volt pack this will give you better servo speed and torque
Alkaline batterys are rated 1.5 volts x4=6.0 volts
nicad $ nimh are rated 1.2 volts x5 =6.0 volts

most guys use 1000 or 1100 nimh 5 cell packs in there cars and trucks

have fun
