Default 37.5% TOC YAK - Drilling control surface for horns?

Several have suggested to lay the stab flat, and drill for control horn, resulting in an angling control horn, allowing more surface throw. Other have said to square the surface, then drill resulting in a straight horn, resultingisles throw..Which way?? Jim

LAy the controll surface flat on a drill press top down. Yes the controll horn will be angled tword the hinge line. When you put on your lincages your pivot point on the linkage will be right on the pivot point of the controll surface. I was confused about this the first time I did it too. But has worked out great on every plane I have used it on Since. The fact that it is angled is not a big deal because your nelson type controll horn has a swivle at the top

Let me know and I can take some pictures for you.

Jim,

I'm putting together the 33% Yak to have something to play around with and keep my Dalton for competition. I can't wait to see your 37.5%, it might be my next 150 size plane. So far I have put together 3 toc planes and I have not seen better built arfs anywhere. The construction is excellent. Also, I won't be able to make the second Houston imac contest, I will be coming home from a cruise that Saturday...Jonas
