what is the difference v ti and x pro
I see the DF V TI is rated as lifting 4 oz maximum as below from the DF web site, and the X PRO model is rated at 1 lb.
What causes this increase in load capacity? it's a lot of difference , is it motors; blades or a combination of both?
How much weight can the Draganflyer carry?
The load carrying capacity depends upon factors such as altitude above sea level, the battery weight, how well the blades have been sanded, etc, but a fine tuned Draganflyer at sea level on a charged battery can fly with four ounces of payload.
How Much Can The Draganflyer X-Pro Carry?
This Machine can carry about 1 pound of equipment on top of the 5.0 pounds the X-Pro Weighs.
If I look at the web site spares list I only see 1 type of motor or am I missing something? part # 320119.
Point is it possible we can upgrade the DF VTI to a greater lift capacity?
regards

RE: what is the difference v ti and x pro
The DF V Ti Pro is rated is safely rated for 4-5 oz. but I'm sure I've got more than that hanging on mine with the new AP system and nav lights system.
Have you seen how big the X Pro is? Watch the video with Zenon holding it to get an idea of the scale. One of the reasons it can lift more weight is because it uses large 3 bladed rotors and yes, the motors are considerably larger and more powerful as needed.

RE: what is the difference v ti and x pro
OK that explains that that but the question still remains are there not more powerful motors that could be fitted? There seems to be a difference between what DF can in reality lift and what is specified.
I have a camera (link below), which, with batteries weighs 138 gram 4.8 oz weighed accurately.
So now if the DF can lift that where to mount it?
I was thinking to mount it on the DF camera arm but would that put the DF out of balance? Or, should I make landing skids like a heli and put the camera under the DF centre base?
you have the experience Sky Hight , what do you think?

Every company underrates what their product is capable of for liability reasons. That way if anyone exceeds what they say is safe or efficient there is still a margin built in. So if the end user exceeds all of that and defeats built-in safeties of what the rating is then the end user is negligible and can't hold that company liable. Mike at Spectro can tell you about some of the crazy things he's done with the DF V and X Pro like trying to loop the DF V, hahaha!
I've definitely thought about using a very small digital still camera mounted directly underneath the battery tray but then you have to have the mechanism to trigger it. All of this adds up to complexity of operation and weight. Then if you are trying to mount a video camera, no matter how small and light, on the frame or under the battery tray there's the vibration issue which is what DFI has finally overcome with the new isolated mount. Vibration is what plagued the other camera mount no matter how good the camera's quality was. I even put foam in both ball joints on the eyecam mount and it still didn't remove it. The camera has to be isolated from the frame in steps with each one gradually diminishing vibration. DFI also told me that removing vibration is just the first step in getting clean video. The next one is removing electronic noise from the video signal with electronic filters and circuits because of the random rapid pulses of power to each rotor to make it do what it does, fly. It just never ends. Then you have to find a way to either mount a transmitter for that camera or interface it with the existing transmitter. To me it's not worth the headache. DFI has already figured all of this out and finally created a system that works. There are plenty of brilliant people out there and on these boards that have come up with some very cool ideas and working models but I don't have the time and/or patience to do it so I'll just use what I know works. Good luck!

adwb, that camera BTW has only a 15fps rate plus is probably CMOS for that price. You'll more than likely be disappointed with it's quality (or lack of). CCD is the way to go for clean, stable video. You're better off putting the $100+ dollars on a decent wireless setup

RE: what is the difference v ti and x pro
Hi
I am developing a 6MP camera system to go on the DF V Ti pro. The lightest camera I could find is the Pentax S6. Triggering the camera is easy - for £25 you can get an IR auto trigger (gentLED AUTO) http://www.kapshop.com/product_info....products_id=88
The whole lot should weigh no more than about 4.5 Oz and with a 1GB SD card, should be good for 500 + shots
If anyone has some advice on how to mount or damp the camera from vibration under the battery tray, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks

I'm waiting for someone to remove the basic electronics from a still camera and figure out a way to make it fit in that ball. That would solve the mount and vibration problem.
I think we're getting a little off topic in this thread so I'm going to continue talk about cameras at the link below.
