Default Is this a good receiver? Please give input

I need another receiver and I am thinking about this one. Any one using this?
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...7&I=LXCBC7&P=K
Does it work well being Universal Compatible? I have and Airtronics MX-3S. I know I will have to use the correct crystal. I want to put it in a truck that I do not run real often and do not want to shell out $109 for then Synthesized receiver. Any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I have one in a small gas car I run around....it came with the system(3 channel agressor) was like $65...I basically bought it cause I didn't wanna shell out alot for a radio for a car I rarely run...it works fine I've had no issue's with it..I'm using hitech servo's on it...but long as you use proper crystal it should be alright.

I always troll the local boards for deals on used receivers. Don't forget you also have the option of using JR RS300 or RS310 and Novak XXtra as well as the airtronics rx.

I can usually find one in the $50 CDN range, which is pretty close to where you'll be with that rx and a crystal set.

Heck the XXtra is only $65 at tower, and i remember being linked to a page at Novak where you could buy a reconditioned for somewhere around $50 iirc. Maybe dig around on www.teamnovak.com and see if you can find it.

I never bought crystals before as my FM you just set the frequency and on my AM stuff the crystal came with them. Boy crystals are expensive! Looking on Towers web site you have to buy both the TX and receiver crystals which I do not the TX ones and the crystals coast all most as much as the receiver.
