ok i have a JR xr2i. i put recharable AAs in it because i didnt want to buy alot of batteries, but they never charge up to the full 12v. im thnking of getting a battery pack for it. any suggestions. i ahve to not seen a 12v pack suited to fit the Tx. i was considering using two stick Rx packs the 5 cell 6v type. any suggestuons?

Rechargeable batteries put out 1.2volts per cell. Alkaline or disposable batteries put out 1.5volts per cell. A fully charged 9.6volt pack or 8 AA rechargeables will peak around 11.0 volts. After a few seconds it may drop from there.

If you have a rechargeable 12volts battery, peak voltage may exceed maximum voltage of radio depending on radio.
Most radio systems operate on 8.5volts to 14volts respectively

9.6volt pack are used in most standard radio systems. This will be equivelent to 8 rechargeable Nimh/NiCD AA's.

Stay with the rechargeable AA's.

The above poster is right, you'll never see 12V out of them, but that is normal.

ahhh ok thanks alot guys. so the only benefit buying a pack would give me would be more milliapms?

Alkaline batteries have a capacity around 2300mah, while most AA rechargeable's are around that mark. So you won't notice much of a difference in the life span of 1 charge. One huge advantage of rechargeables is they are much cheaper in the long term.

I use 2500mah AA's made by Duracell. I also have the charger that charges 4 AA's in 15minutes. So I have a fully recharged pack in 30min.

I use [link=http://htbatteries.com/Public_html/Tx%20packs.htm]HT Batteries [/link] in my TX. They are only 11.1Volts but they last longer than any Alk AA's or Recharge AA's I've tried. Plus they charge right up in 30-45 minutes while still in my radio.
They don't make a specific battery for your radio but tey do make one for the JR X1. I don't know if they are the same but how your battery setup is, you might be able to make one your self?

I'm only seeing 1200mah for the battery listed. I may be missing something. How is this better than 2300mah. The rechargeables @ 2300mah almost have twice the capacity. And they charge up in 30minutes sharp.

I hear what your saying, but for some reason the Lipo's last longer and have more voltage. I was lucky to get one race day out of my 2300mah AA's. WIth my Lipo pack I got 2 whole race days and on my third day I charged them any way even though the battery indicator said it was still good.
Not to mention they are a lot litghter!

My buddy uses a 1250mah 3 cell Lipo for his transmitter. It's from one of his planes, I think Great Planes makes it.

I use my 2300mah rechargeable AA's. He will get about 3.5-4.5 hours before his batteries run dry. I will get at least 5 hours of battery life.
I don't understand how you have double the battery life and only half the chemical capacity. (mah)

He also had to modify his battery tray as the battery did not quite fit.
