Default transmiter batteries, use rechargeable?

Hey all,

i have the Savage x.. the transmitter takes 8XAA batteries, which equals 12V..

is there any way of using rechargeable batterries in there?? they wont equal the voltage of alkaline batteries, will this matter??

cheers

The small drop in voltage will not make that much a difference. I use 8 Duracell 2300mah nimh batteries and it works great and they last a lot longer than the alkalein batteries. You may have a shorter range with the radio, but the alkalein batteries drop off very quickly and you will get a longer more consistent runtime with rechargeable nimh's.

I'm using the Energizer 2500mah NIMH rechargeable batteries in the transmitter and for the receiver pack.....they work great. You can buy them at Sam's Club.

A good set of Nimh will be better than alkalines. Alkalines quickly drop in voltage while the alkalines hold theirs until they are nearly dead. There's no down side to using rechargeables in your radio.

I use lithium in my Spektrum. Seems to last forever!

The Energizers I use came with their own charger....it takes 8 hours to charge 4 AAs so I picked up an extra charger.

That's what I do with my rx packs. Take them out and hook them to my peak charger. As long as your charger is designed to charge up to (or more than) 6 cell packs, you'll be fine.
Most of my radios have charge jacks but I seem to get a better charge if I take them out and hook them directly to the charger.

I use the Rayovac 15 minutes. I can have all 8 charged in well under an hour. They last the whole day then some.
