Default Indoor F3Ai pattern plane

Hey guys,

I dont know how many of you are interested in the indoor pattern stuff, but a few of us down here are attempting to learn. F3Ai is very difficult to fly indoors.

After looking all around for a decent indoor pattern plane. I came across Dan Landis's ICE biplane. This is by far the best indoor plane I have flown to date. It flys very similar to a lightweight shocky, but slows down even more. Really fun plane. This perticular plane was a competition grade kit that was purchased from Dan at the last Memphis Xtreme Freestyle Championships. The plane should be available from www.rcfoamy.com very soon. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a really slow aerobatic plane.

The plane is equipped with the following equipment
Plane, all carbon except landing gear, with firewall, himax HC22081260 motor, prop collet, prop = 108.8g
CC Thunderbird 9 = 9.1g (weight up from 7.7 due to connectors)
De-cased 4ch rx = 4.4g
Futaba 3110(ailerons) = 7.7g
Bluebird 303's(rudder/elevator) = 8.8g
Pull/pull on all surfaces = 1.5g
Landing gear = 2.5g
E-tec 2cell 340mah = 24.7g
Velcro, etc = 2.0g

Total 169.5 or 5.97oz

Enjoy!!!!

Very nice bipe! But I don't like the look of the pilot standing next to the plane..
F3Ai is quite difficult indeed; low weight (120 - 150 g approx.) and a slow flying style are the keys to success. I've built several foamies and all fly as good as available kits or (some) even better - but this is down to individual taste.
Regards,
-Fabrizio

Here are pics of how I did the paintjob.

Cut a template out of mylar or plastic...anything will work.
Then shoot Faskolor's Pearl Blue over it .....presto...instant ICE.

I've just about finished this one. Gotta mold the canopy for it. I might change the rudder shape.
Its a scratch-built. I named it the Hypnosis.
I finally found a light weight option to the motor mount. No more heavy plywood mounts.
1/64" thick carbon fiber sheet, laminated to 3mm depron. Mount the motor, and then glue it in. Looks Sharp.
