Default what causes the car to go?

i have a smartech winner sport and im having idling problems. when i pull the starter the wheels spin while i pull it and the car will not idle, the wheels are always spinning. ive adjusted all oh the idling knobs and such and i believe the problem is in the tranny. my question is what causes the car to move when it is given gas? i feel that my problem is here but see no sort of clutch except for the 2nd gear one. thanks for your help

If it's like many nitros then the pinion gear is the clutch bell and the clutch shoes are inside it. Maybe they're stuck or have a broken springs.

Probable cause: The clutch/shoes melted into the bell, probably from holding the car to keep it from running away. Now the engine cannnot spin freely without the wheels being engaged because the clutch (which is supposed to engage upon acceleration only) is fused together permanently.

If you crank the engine with the starter and the wheels spin, this is the problem.

as philister said it is a clutch problem don't go out and being quite the smartech vertran I agree with him. the smartechs have a problem with the clutch shoes. They are very weak and melt even from normal use. don't go out and re-order any smartech shoes
there are two direct drop in's you can use. either the Duratrax White Nylon Shoes DTXC7156 or Kyosho Alloy Shoes IF204
I personally use the Duratrax shoes and can state that they improve the throttle response bigtime...

once your replace the shoes check your idle speed. if you lift the car and the wheels spin at a decent speed, the idle speed is too high..
some minor rotation is normal. but once on the ground the car won't move
