necessity is the mutha--
This setup is actually easy to do and so far I have not been rear ended - oh yeh, over 30 mpg on the road.
the spinner to rudder tip is 119". I sold my big Chev van - the little 4" split braided hoses clamp to the struts and the plane is simply wheeled in - wrapped and strapped and a bungee hold downpressure on the hatch. Not for cross country -but Hey! good for weekend flying
Also provides merriment for the public at large

Dick,
You need to hang one of those orange flags off of the tail wheel
And here I was worried about fitting my QQ 102" Yak in my Explorer!! Great job

Sweet! I should have kept my Acura CLS. My 40% fits just fine in the Lexus RX 300. I can fit a 35% and 28% at the same time with the stabs off. I MIGHT be able to squeeze in a 28% with a 40%.

Why not just make a 3 point mount for your roof rack. I would imagine the fuse would be able to handle highway speeds mounted on the roof if it can fly at highway speeds. With them being removable, you won't have to worry about the incidence of the horizontal stabs, and it looks like you have enough room for the wing bags inside. You can make a clamp so you won't get any rudder shutter.

a friend of mine had a great plaens giant extra 330, and he used to tie it to the top of his rsx, tail was tied to the spoiler, and like 2 on the gear 2 on the wing tube.

My CLS 01 would whip up quick on an RSX. I had the CL type S with 260hp 5.9 0 - 60 stock. With just yourself in it and that steptronic you were gone! Of course the highway patrol didnt take kindly to that or the fact I did over 100 on I 95 on a regular basis. I swear that car felt like 40 at 90-110. In South Carolina and NC a few times I opened her up all the way. Needless to say many speeding tickets and lawyers later I have the grocery getter.
Back on topic, when we had some events at the field I would bring 3 big ones out: 2 inside and one strapped to the roof! Lots of people do it in Europe with big planes and small cars.
Has anyone mad a trailer just big enough for a 40% to be pulled by a motorcycle? Now that would be cool.

I have been thru a custom made trailer - fully insulated-- low profile so I could see over it - three Chev full sized vans three full sized wagons, a Ford Exploder etc. this funny little old Subaru I bought -is a peach of a rattle around car -super milage cold air - turnes around on a dime and costs nothing to fix. So when I found it hauled this 42% piggy - It was just a bonus.
Now I drive it rather than the nicer cars --if it quits -I can pick it up and carry it home --
I call it my motorcycle with AC
