Default Why the Aerotech 50 cc Yak?

I am getting back into RC flying after a few years off. I was about to buy a Carden Cuda, but my flying friends told me I was crazy so I started to research the issue. I want to build a nice 50 cc IMAC plane and am surprised by all the ARF's. The TOC Yak comes highly recommended, but I like the Aerotech. The website sure is informative and John seems to have many fans. He seems like someone who stands behind his product which I admire.

Can someone give me a few facts that will make my decision easier? I still have a hard time believing that an ARF is any good. Also this will be my first plane bigger than 120 sized pattern ship.

Thanks

Here is the link to the first page of a very long build thread on this plane. It is not
all great. I just flew mine and am disappointed - came out heavy and is underpowered
by a DA50 without a pipe. Perhaps your experience will be different.
